But there are also limitations of the Google map, it shows the right distances between the places, but it does not calculate the right travel time. The average speed of the vehicle comes very less around 25-30 km per hour on the hilly winding roads. And sometimes roads are not proper or there is traffic congestion. There are two regions in Uttarakhand; one is Garhwal, and the other is Kumaon region. You should know very well that in which region your places of interest are located. Both these regions are connected by road through Karan Prayag and Ramnagar.

Char Dham Yatra Registration
It is mandatory for all tourists to register for Char Dham Yatra. Tourists can do the registration online as well as off line at Rishikesh registration centre at free of cost. Uttarakhand Govt has started a well equipped and modern registration centre, it has all the facilities like parking for the vehicles, medical health checkup booths, restaurants, toilet bath and a 100 bed Ac dormitory.
Registration Process: Pilgrims can register for the yatra at the respective state tourism offices, online portals, or at the registration counters in major cities. The registration process may involve providing personal details, travel plans, and health information.
Usage of Registration: The registration process is primarily intended for tracking and managing the flow of pilgrims during the yatra. It helps the authorities ensure the safety and well-being of the pilgrims, especially in challenging terrains and weather conditions. The information collected during registration might be used to contact individuals in case of emergencies and to manage the overall logistics of the pilgrimage.
For Helicopter booking to Kedarnath one has to enter Group Registration Number to book the tickets. Kindly ensure that you have done the registration for the date you are visiting Kedarnath.

1. Create an Account: Pilgrims may need to create an account on the portal with their details.
2. Fill in Details: Complete the registration form with personal information, travel plans, and health details.
3. Upload Documents: Scan and upload the required documents, such as ID proof Aadhar card/Pan card/Passport or voter Id, and photographs.
4. Payment (if applicable): Online and off line registration is free of cost.

Offline Registration:
For offline registration, pilgrims can typically visit the registration counters set up by the Uttarakhand Tourism Department at Rishikesh and Haridwar. The centre has 10 registration booths. Pilgrims can go to any booth with relevant documents like Aadhar card/Pan card/Passport or voter Id.
It is advisable for all tourist to do online registration to avoid long queues at the registration centre. The registration process takes only a minute but the average waiting time in May and June in the queue varies from 30 min to 1 hr.
